We're delighted to announce that we have been chosen to lead a major redesign of the Imperial College London web site. Imperial College is one of the top ten institutions in the world, and is frequently recognized for its leadership in technology, biomedicine and science.
Virginia Tech referred Imperial College to us following the successful launch of the redesigned www.vt.edu site in August 2006. We responded to a request for proposal and were selected along with two other internationally recognized design firms to present to Imperial College.
Our Creative Director Brian Maddox and I flew to London in mid-December to make our presentation. We didn't have much time for sightseeing as we worked madly to finish our presentation. Everyone at Imperial was super – we enjoyed meeting them and our presentation went smoothly. Which is good considering we practiced it about five times!
Imperial College London selected NewCity on the basis of our experience, our research-based approach to developing information architecture, and our strength in interactive design.
We will be:
- Conducting user interviews with a variety of audiences and developing mental models which help us structure the site around real user goals and needs.
- developing a new top-level architecture/navigation for the web site.
- creating new screen designs for the home page and a wide variety of secondary page templates.
- Guiding the editing and creation of content to better communicate the world-class learning and research being done at Imperial College London.
We will deliver templates for implementation by Imperial College's web team within their Oracle CMS.
The project will run from January through June 2007.
