Road trip schedules aren’t easy to follow

About this post:

The first day of the NewCity SXSW Ride Along proved to be a bit challenging, but we go through it.

Our plan all along was to leave eeeeeaaaarrrrrly this morning, grab the RV in Knoxville and then head out. Coffee/lunch in Chattanooga, coffee again in Birmingham and a fun night in New Orleans. Mmmhm.

Yesterday, we found out we couldn't get the RV until 11 at the earliest, which threw the schedule off completely. Oh well. We go to the Rent A Wreck dealer (not kidding) just after 11 this morning and didn't hit the road again until 1. When we did, Brian and I both plugged in our laptops to start talking/twittering/updating about everything and we blew a fuse in the RV. Live and learn, right?

So now we're finally settling in. Had a great, and I mean, GREAT lunch at Aretha Frankenstein's in Chattanooga. If you're ever in town, check it out. It's in a cool little neighborhood that's clearly in the process of revitalization with some funky homes. Case in point, the rusty bicycle fence that Sara took pictures of, if you can't see them on flickr yet, they'll be on soon.

We're back on the road. I'm getting my MacBook juiced up. We've had some issues with audio on the webcam so if you're not getting sound when we broadcast, we're trying to figure it out.

A couple other side notes, Brian and I used to live in Atlanta and we've both been gone from there for a while. But driving through this part of Tennessee is a reminder of how early spring arrives in some parts of the country. The Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom and everything's green. Too bad it's also about 43 degrees.

So far, we're enjoying the learning experience and look forward to smoothing out the rough spots as we get down the road. Thanks for your patience. We didn't get a chance to road test much of, well, anything since this trip happened so quickly. So for now, it's all part of the experience.
